Don't know what to do

Hey guys,

Back in November, I posted some questions about the X60 in the X60 forum. I was seriously considering getting an X60S because portability is important to me, but I had some concerns about whether or not I would be happy with the smaller keyboard and display. I finally decided to go to the other end of the spectrum and get a T60 15 with Flexview because I knew the keyboard would be comfortable, and I thought that, combined with the extra high quality of the Flexview display, would be enough to make me forget about the weight difference; I made the purchase in early December.

unfortunately, things don’t seem to be working out that way. While I’m sure the Flexview is the best of the Thinkpad displays, it wasn’t nearly what I expected and is not good enough to make me forget about the weight of the laptop. Now I’m wondering whether I should have just gone with the X60S in the first place. I’m posting this in both the X60 and T60 forums in the hopes that I will get feedback on both sides.

Here are my questions. Is there a big difference in comfort between the X60 and T60 keyboards? If I did decide that I wanted an X60S instead, what are my options for replacing my T60 with an X60S? I hate to lose money, but I realize I will probably have to take a hit if I do this. Right now, I’m just considering my options and wanted to see if you guys could lend your perspectives to the situation. :?

No. The X60 keyboard is definitely smaller, but it's easy to adjust to it.

You can swap with an X60s owner on this forum. Several people have done this, because they found their T60's too heavy. Or, just sell the T60, and get a used X60s on eBay or here.

Hi, I have the x60s and I can confidently say that it feels like it was designed just for me and I have size 9 (UK) hands. It's truly portable, great for typing and if you have the Vodafone internal 3G connectivity kit as I do, it's a dream machine.

I'm comparing my experience to Dells, wich are usually very heavy or very underpowered business machines - two ends of the spectrum there. I've also owned HP laptops, which are great machines if you spend the big bucks and cheap to service due to their parts network.

In summary, I love my x60s.

I chosen X60s too.
it is because its core value of Light Weight, Portability as well as the Unbeatable Battery Life (~8-10hrs WiFi OFF, with simple word processing tasks) ...

I had a 14.1" SXGA T60 that I loved typing on. It is the best keyboard I have ever used, desktop keyboards included.

My X60s keyboard takes some getting used to. I do not like the small backspace key, and it does seem a little cramped overall. But it is a 12", so its to be expected. I can no longer type as accurately as I used to, which is not a good thing when I type during lectures quickly. Really no regrets in getting it though. With wireless on and high screen brightness I get 8 hours out of the battery. (its new)
