X60 ultrabase experience

Hi all, when I was lucky enough to be given my x60s by Lenovo they also gave me an ultrabase, great I hear you say.

But, does anyone else have problems with the key & locking mechanism? Specifically, the first and only time I ever used the lock I needed the strength of Samson to undo the lock & now the key just refuses to turn with or without being docked....

Well, is it just a case of RTFM or shall I call for support?

Works quite well here. My complain concerning the UltraBase X6 are the parallel and serial port.
Lenovo, it's 2007 and instead of a much more needed DVI port I get some ports that are of no practical use these days. Even worse: adding a parallel and serial port using either 3rd party hardware or specific IBM modular bays that cover that functionality if needed at all would be no problem for an X60s owner. However adding DVI capability using a connector doesn't work as it won't give back the superior display quality again.

Well...from past IBM ultrabases; make sure the tablet is FULLY seated in the base; if the key is hard to turn, then not all locking mechanisms have been engaged!

For the "locked" problem, since one of the locking "tabs" was not properly set it can cause the problem above. In my case/s moving the key while gently depressing the eject button has reset everything...

I agree about the DVI but just to comment. Many corporations still need the serial port! We have many applications that require our engineers the availability of the serial communication. Especially with some of our legacy network and diagnostic apps and equipment... The only way you have to connect is through serial. We moved to the R51 platform for many corporate customers but due to the limitations of the USB to Serial issue, we moved some of them to other platforms to accomadate the onboard serial device. Our aviation dept. had to goto an HP laptop to accomadate the Falcon Jet application that required the serial port on board the laptop. I know it's 2007 but would you believe that many items were still supporting require the serial port!
