X60s + UL LCD configurations in Canada

I still torn between between optimizing cool+light, and speed (I run lots of numerically intense computations, but an x40 has spoiled me for weight). This week the cool+light angel on my left shoulder is winning, and I have been trying to sort out X60s configurations. The machine will be purchased through the office, so I need to have a configuration that is available in Canada.

I have heard anecdotal evidence that the X60s is running noticeably cooler and longer under Linux, so this is also swaying me somewhat, since I run only Linux on my thinkpads.

According to the latest tabook (Feb. 2007), there are two X60s models with the ultralight LCD: 1702-H7U and 1702-7CU. Both of these have the 8 cell battery. On the Canadian website I found only 1702-HFU, which has the 4 cell battery. Obviously I can just order an 8 cell battery, but I wondered if I was missing either a Canadian version of tabook or some configure to order options on the Canadian web site.

Battery life under linux

Thanks for the reply. I guess it is not so much that the X60s is good, but that people report the X60 being worse. http://mailman.linux-thinkpad.org/piper ... 38136.html

On the other hand, I also read that the X60T battery life went up a lot when certain (unnecessary) drivers were unloaded. http://mailman.linux-thinkpad.org/piper ... 38071.html
