Atheros card seems to solve the heat issue. Although I'm still going to add ramsinks on mine. But for now, I will stick with a wireless usb card than spend another $40.

I turned off my Wireless WAN the heat went away. :D

the following may help:

Power Management: 1 notch from lowest
Roaming Aggressiveness: same as above
Transmit Power: 50%
Wireless Mode: a, g
I just try to set the Wireless power settings as you mentioned and WOW!! it's cooler. My APS temp went from 53C to 47-48C.
But berlin, how do you know that. I've tried changing the Power Management to lowest and it's hotter than 1 notch from lowest. And i've also try set it to maximum and it's hotter. I mean that PM 1 notch from lowest may give lowest temp but i haven't tried other levels.

And I have another question that when i shutdown my thinkpad and turn on again, i found that the heat went back because the Power Management option is automatically set back to it's default (lowest), so i have to change it manually. And it's even worse if it comes back from stand by or hibernation because all the wireless power settings are back to it's default value.

Does anyone have the same problem as mine?

How do you change the power setting on the Atheros card without Access Connections installed?
