please help to decide

Hi,

I’m new here and it’s my first post

After a year of heavy weight lifting (T43) I want to go back to X model, I had in the past X20, X24, X30 or 31 and then made a mistake with going to T
Now I have to decide between 3 models and need advice

L2400 – fully loaded 2GB, 100MB, 8cel, l etc… with ultra base (1,900$)
T7200 – same configuration but only one year guaranty (1,900$)
T2500 – also fully loaded 4+8cell but no ultra base and 3 years (1,500$)

Mainly I’m using office application and web, so don’t really need fast processor, however sometimes I have to open very heavy 50MB+ presentations and my T43 cant really handle it fast
Battery – I travel a lot and would need good battery life, I’m not expecting to get 8 hours but good 4+ hours would be necessary

My questions following:
• Assuming L2400 and T7200 will have exactly same configuration what will be difference in battery life and in performance?
• T7200 – this processor not available anymore on X series, it means they experience some problems with it and canceled, should I be concerned about it?
• L2400 vs. T2500 – with same config. what will be difference in battery life and in performance, here is also price difference of 400USD, in L2400 I will have ultra base that I don’t really need and Verizon card, which is absolutely unnecessary for me since I’m in Europe (btw, can I take it out and sell?) so if battery almost same and T2500 would be faster, I might go with T2500
• Regarding weight, if I understood correct all 3 models will have exactly same weight ±100gr?
• Light screen on X60s model, is it better or worth?

You dont use ultrabase much, and its heavy for portable, better buy
a lighter usb optical drive. Adding the ultrabase with optical drive will add weight around as heavy as

For performance overall, it won't offer you any much better if you're using light applications, but if you do not want any slowdown, a really fast hard drive and 1gb+ ram would do well.

Battery life between the x60 and x60s isn't any difference from what I have seen in lenovo website.


Only thing is left compare is the weight, I think x60s is around .5 lbs lighter, with x60 being 3.15lbs. But I believe that is the weight WITHOUT the battery from what I check in lenovo website, so plus 8 cell would be 4.20 lbs if I'm correct.

I think the x60s would be good for you but 1900$ is a bit too much comparing to the 1500$
isn't there a lower price of an x60s without an ultrabase? You may try to buy a lower ram one and upgrade yourself which will be much
cheaper.

You will note that there is significant power consumption difference between L and T processors.

That the X60 and X60s are shown by Lenovo to have approximately the same battery life is a reflection of the smaller capacity battery of the X60s. However, if one uses the X60 battery on the X60s (i.e., both machines with the same battery), then the X60s outlasts the X60.

The UL screen is significantly brighter than the other screen. The UL screen intensity set at 4 of 7 bars equals the normal screen set at 7 of 7 bars. It's not the weight that is the benefit; it's the brightness.

In lenovo still shows the same battery life in both models with the same battery cell. However that probably is applied to lowest settings.

I guess Lenovo made the x60s have LV cpu in purpose of getting a brighter lcd while not losing any battery life.

I, too, am considering the purchase of a X60. I want a fairly portable Thinkpad with no touchpad. The X60 seems to fit the bill (although a small, widescreen would be nice).

This will replace my MacBook and T23 (I'll pass the MacBook along to the wife and likely still use the T23 on occasion).

remember to buy the atheros wireless card so u can run osx on your x60
