Presentation Director issues with Vista?

#1 Post by adamr » Sat Feb 24, 2007 3:08 pm

I just installed Vista Ultimate on my 1704-69u - X60s with 2gb RAM.

Presentation Director doesn't seem to be working.

When I try to load it I get this message first:

"This program has known compatibility issues. Thinkpad Power Management Service is incompatible with this version of Windows."

I am running 2.56 of Presentation Director and 1.41 of the Power Management Service and 2.01 of the Power Management app.

Once I hit "Run Program" on the error message above, I get the next error message of "The present display setup is not supported". Once I hit Ok on that, Presentation Director loads but it has no schemes loaded.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Also, pushing Fn+F7 does nothing.

Which display driver are you using? Not sure about Intel graphics, but I know for Radeon graphics the Presentation Director won't work unless you install the Lenovo graphics driver or the ATI graphics driver. The built-in Vista graphics driver is missing a key file.
Thinkpad X200s w/ Ultrabase
C2D SL9600 / 8GB / 160GB X25-M G2 / BD MULTI / 12.1" WXGA / INTEL 4500MHD / INTEL 5150 / BT / AT&T WWAN / W7

The driver installed is:

Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Controller 0 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)

Version: 7.14.10.1138
Date: 8/23/2006
Provider: Intel

What do you think? Is this correct?

or this update from Intel:

Thanks - I installed the latest driver from Intel's site. Still having the same problem. It keeps complaining about the power management driver. Could it be that driver?

I have absolutely no idea what they do, but maybe these updates are required for other Thinkpad components to work with Vista...

The site claims it's on v 3.01 now:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67364

And in the notes:

"REQUIRED DRIVERS

Before installing Presentation Director, it is required to install "Lenovo System
Interface Driver" and an appropriate display driver for the target system.
Refer to the README file of each software package for installing these software packages."

Finally:

"To enable Fn+F7 key function, it is also required to install the following packages:

- Power Management Driver for Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP/Vista
- Hotkey Features for Windows Vista"

Good luck
