Id the power consumption problem only related to wake up after standby or does the laptop consumes more power at all time?

If so, would a go back to 1.03 have any specific problem (except the lack of official support for Vista).

What do I have to earn from going back to these old bioses ?

I installed BIOS 2.07 and gave it a thorough test as far as power consumption.

My experience is that, coupled with all other Windows and ThinkPad updates, the new BIOS is:

(1) somewhat better on power consumption than the previous versions -- with 2.07 wattage drops to 5.49W on idling with screen brightness set to 0 and wireless off.

(2) free from the infamous standby/hibernation resume issue when after waking up the computer would consume 2-3W more power than before. Somehow they have fixed it along the line.

So I would rather stay with 2.07. It seems to be better for all intents and purposes.

I hope this helps.

Did you test the above with 2.06 by chance?

Yes, I did. The standby-resume issue was resolved with 2.06+updates as well, but the wattage is slightly better with 2.07 -- say, by ~ 0.05W.

Hey, thanks for the review. I've been sitting on 1.11, waiting for a good BIOS update to come. It will be nice to have the virtualization option and increased memory for graphics.

There is at least one glitch with 2.07, however, that I have been able to catch so far and which has not been there in the previous BIOS versions.

If I put machine to a standby on either battery or AC with the screen deemed down all the way to "0", then after resume the brightness level is always one notch up at "1", and I have to turn it down manually back to "0".

This is, however, not the case with hibernation, nor with any pre-standby brightness level other than "0".

Harmless but weird. I hope they will fix it in the next BIOS version.
