Battery Weirdness

#1 Post by stadifer » Mon Mar 12, 2007 10:54 am

I recently purchased an new X60t and so far I have been very happy. However, after using the thing normally during the weekend I went to turn it on Sunday morning without the A/C adapter... Nothing. After attaching the A/C power I got the "irreparable damage" message in the message center and on the power manager.

Now here is where it gets really weird. After spending two days playing with all the settings I decided to use R&R and restore the factory image (less a few IBM applications and Symantec). I turn my laptop on with A/C power and my battery shows 0% charge but "Condition Good" in the power manager. Although it is showing a 48-hour recharge time.

Any thoughts?

Does the X60t work correctly with AC adapter and no battery attached? If that is the case, hopefully it's just a bad battery. I suggest calling Lenovo support line.

It does work fine on A/C power alone so I'm not concerned about that. Although I hope the charging system isn't burning up the battery. I have another headed too me.

I would be careful about any weird battery problems. One dude left his Macbook to get charged only for it to catch fire later..

Well I should have a new battery tomorrow and we shall see if it was the battery itself or not. I have been using my Thinpad sans-battery since this issue surfaced. Test my wireless devices out without a batter has been a pain in the rear.
