1706-bq6 has not yet approved sg's ida mini express 3g card?

#1 Post by ylim » Sun Mar 18, 2007 9:49 am

Anyone got the thinkpad x60 (1706-bq6) during the recent IT show at suntec city in Singapore?

I heard that it has a not yet approved mini express 3g card? And the factory settings don't permit one to use it.

You can locate the card according to this movie,
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-64322

I am not very well-versed with dismantling a laptop, if you have the 1706-bq6 x60 and is well-versed with dismantling, can you confirm this?

Please advise.

I have a 1706-BQ6 model and the following are reported by Windows Vista Business Edition - Performance Information and Tools:

Network:
~~~~~~
~ Network Adapter Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection
~ Network Adapter Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
~ Network Adapter Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
~ Network Adapter Microsoft Tun Miniport Adapter
Is there something missing here for the mini-express 3G card?
When enable "Show hidden devices" option in View-Menu-bar of Window's Vista Device Manager, the following are displayed:
~ Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
~ Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)
~ Intel(R) PRO/1000 PL Network Connection
~ Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
~ RAS Async Adapter
~ Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
~ WAN Miniport (IP)
~ WAN Miniport (IPv6)
~ WAN Miniport (L2TP)
~ WAN Miniport (PPOE)
~ WAN Miniport (PPTP)
What will happen to the non-approved 3G WWANdevice? Will Lenovo be seeking device-recalls or upgrades? Will customers who purchased 1706-BQ6 asked to pay violation-charges to IDA who regulates use of telecommunication devices? :shock: [/img]
