I just bought a new X60 with WinXP. Have 2 issues I hope someone can help with. Read old message thread titles and found some info but not enough.

#1 issue - Lord, this is one hot palmrest. I don't own a thermocouple but you could fry an egg on this thing. Might tweeking the power settings help?

#2 issue - The first tie I ran the machine and went through the set up I enabled the embedded security chip. Now I've decided I don't need that and have shut it off. BUT - the boot sequence still involves some time-consuming discussion of the chip - and announces to the world that it has been deactivated More annoying, WinXP does not boot to the "select a user" screen and fast user switching is apparently disabled. Is there some way I can make this computer behave like all my other XP machines and just boot to the select a user screen?

Uninstall Client Security totally, this is what is blocking the
Fast user switching/ boot up user screen selection.

I have found that Client Security is useless mostly, it's only function is a secure hard disk, a password manager (which screws up frequently) and some smaller functions.

Client Security 8.0 may be better. However, I can never configure it to allow fast user switching, even when after I go through the profile seeting process and it says it allows it.

so just kill it.
