I just got a widescreen (1680x1050 resolution) Samsung 206BW monitor connected to the analog VGA port. The picture looks great, but the monitor emits an annoying buzzing noise. Has anyone else experienced the same problem on their external monitors?

Are there any other electronic devices near the cables? It might be an "electrical noise" disturbance.
I've got a 17" hooked up and it works great.
Or it might be a faulty analog port.

have you tried connect the monitor to other computer/laptop to see if the noise persist?
some monitor does have a buzzing noise issue, but just make sure it's because of the monitor, not the x60.

The buzzing noise occurs with both a X60 and T30 thinkpads. So, it appears to be either induced by the analog cable, or the LCD monitor itself. This afternoon, I exchanged the monitor for a new unit. Will try again with the new monitor later.
No more bussing noise

I got a replacement Samsung 206BW and this time, there's no more buzzing noise. I'm a happy camper. The brightness and picture quality is outstanding!

That's most likely a problem (if you can call it that) with the monitor itself. What refresh frequency do you have it running on? Can you try using different refresh frequencies and seeing if that makes any difference?

Anyone of you have quality problem with external screens ?
Mine will show bands moving on the screen if CPU is running full speed.
I found out using NHC to lower voltage and lowering refresh rates of the external screen do diminish the problem but does not cure it.
Any idea ?

Did you try pressing the Auto Adjust button on your LCD panel?

Just as an FYI, I once had a Samsung TFT panel which emitted an electrical buzzing noise that was in proportion to the backlight level. (The lower the backlight level went, the more noticeable the sound was)

Hmm - that's interesting. That may have been the problem with the original Samsung LCD that I returned. I did adjust the LCD brightness lower.
