X60 UK15UGE - Problems with Windows?

Hi!
I got some basic questions about the new X60 UK15UGE. I heard that its a very hard job to install a completely new Windows XP on that device because the installer doesn't detect the chipset and SATA hard disc.
Can anybody give me some informations about that?
Thanks
regards
PS: does GE from UK15UGE mean german keyboard layout?

Go to Bios est put the disk controller from AHCI to Compatibility mode and it should be OK.

Yes - that what i heard. But this is quite tricky because after installing Windows you have to install the SATA device - and thats quite complicated.
Buying a floppy drive would be also ok - does windows detect USB floppy drives during the installation?

Well no, in compatibility mode, Windows only see a standard PATA device. No SATA at all.
And yes Win does detect USB floppies as long as the bios supports it which is the case of my X60.

Shouldn't be that bad. Using this method you don't have to try and install the SATA drivers during the Windows install program. You only install them after Windows is installed:
1) Put BIOS in compatibility mode.
2) Install Windows like you normally would as if you didn't have a SATA drive.
3) After Windows is installed, now install SATA drivers from Lenovo's website.
4) Put BIOS back in AHCI mode. The SATA drivers should load automatically when you boot back up to Windows.
and you're done.
