Symantec Live Update problem on new X60Tablet w/ Vista

Hi!

- I have a new X60 Tablet running Windows Vista.
- Based on what I read in this forum, performed a reset to factory condition after arrival, but got rid of most of the pre-installed software and utilities (including Norton Antivirus and Symantec Live Update).

- After whiping the computer clean, I first ran Windows update.
- Then I installed a full version of Symantec Antivirus (10.2).

The problem:

- When I try to run Live Update, I get error "LU1814: LiveUpdate could not retrieve the update list"

I am sure that I am connected to the internet. None of the solutions offered on the symantec website do anything for me.

Has anybody encountered the same problem or knows what I did wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Just for archival purposes:

This worked for me. It is from...

http://www.adcs.umn.edu/kb/public/Detai ... cleID=1988

Resolution:

Open windows explorer
Click on the Start Menu
Click on Computer
Set Windows Explorer to show all files and folders
Organize
Folders and Search Options
View
Click Show Hidden Files and Folders
Remove the check next to Hide protected operating system files
Click OK
Browse to C:\Users\All Users\Symantec\LiveUpdate
Delete all Settings files (most of these will appear in the format of #.Settings where # is a number).
Reset Windows Explorer to hide all files and folders

Organize
Folders and Search Options
View
Remove the check box for Show Hidden Files and Folders
Check the box next to Hide protected operating system files
Click OK
Close Windows Explorer Run Live Update

Launch Symantec Anti-virus
Click on LiveUpdate….
Click on Start

I know this may be a stupid question, and I apologize if it is. Is your version of Norton made for Vista? Some XP programs will work to some extent in Vista from what I've read.
