Zone Alarm Pro interferes with security chip

Brand new x60s, pre-loaded with Windows XP/Home.
System boots up a little slowly, but I can live with that.
Then, I install Zone Alarm Pro (I assume v7.0, since I just bought it). Now, on boot-up, system sits at "Checking status of embedded security chip" for exactly 10 minutes. Then I get an error window, with these two messages:
"There was a problem connecting to a critical services."
"Also, check to make sure that the TPM device driver is installed and enabled."
I've looked around, and not found anything that addresses this on an x60s. For others, the solution appears to be to either disable the security chip or uninstall the Client Security Software. If that's the best we can do, so be it... although I suspect doing those things will lead to other problems.
Does anyone have the "right" solution to this problem?
Thanks very much.
