SC Card reader not functioning

My firm just purchased 20 X60s models 1702-3QU. We wiped the hard drives clean and installed our own hardware independent image on them that we built using Altiris. Everything works fine with the exception of the SD card (will not read). I have downloaded the lateste driver from Lenovo's site and any SD card does not display in windows explorer (you do not even hear the Windows chime when inserting the card). Any thoughts as to what could be causing this? BTW - we only have the minimum amount of Lenovo utilities installed (no Think Vantage software), fingerprint reader is installed and working, the Fn key and magnifier software and that is about it.

Where in my post did I say I tried to insert a MMC card into the SD slot? I do know the difference between SD, MMC, XD, Micro SD< Mini SD, CF and any other format you care to mention.

Another suggestion: did you push the card all the way in? I've had two SD card readers that I thought were not reading my cards, but it turned out I just had to push the cards much harder.

With an SD card inserted, try the disk management snap-in in management console. Windows may be able to see the SD-reader, but hasn't assigned it a drive letter.

I tried that, and does not show up in disk management. I am starting to think there is a problem with the image build.
