'ThinkVantage Access Connections' freezes X60 - HELP!

Hi people.
I have had my X60 for about 1 month. I am running Windows XP Tablet Edition. I was using avast secuirty. About a week ago I started getting these problems:-
- Wireless radio switches off automatically and cannot be restarted.
- When I open 'ThinkVantage Access Connections' I get the splash screen, but nothing else - it just hangs at the splash screen with that picture of the radio dish.
- When I open the other 'ThinkVantage Access Connections' icon I get the usual window, but clicking on the 'Power on wireless radio' button does nothing.
- The hardware switch on the front of the machine is set to 'radio on' all the time.
- When I eventually force a shutdown using Alt-Ctrl-Del I notice that 'LPManagerWindow', 'Connections Tray' and some other program are not responding.
This kept happening for no apparent reason.
Then I got this error message:-
ERROR
0192: System Security - Embedded Secuirty hardware tamper detected.
Eventually, I gave up and decided to do a factory reset.
I did this factory reset VERY carefully, recording EVERY setting etc. I chose the pre-installed Symantec Antivirus instead of avast this time (including Symantec Client Firewall' instead of the Windows firelwall)', thinking that Lenovo have probably tested this one thoroughly, so it should work.
To my horror, I am getting the same problem. Last time, the following programs were shown as not responding when I forced shutdown:-
AcTrayWnd
FindWLNWWndPCI\VEN_808...
Safeguard@ ...
Connections Tray
I have two theories at the moment:-
1. My security chip might have been compromised in some way and the factory reset might not have reset that (?)
2. I'm not setting up the antivirus product correctly. (But I've had the same problem with both avast and Symantec.)
Thank you kindly for any help!!!
David
Ps: I also have a problem with intermittent shaking of lower third of the screen. Fiddling with the screen seems to fix this, so I reckon this is hardware issue only - I'm trying to get this fixed using my onsite warranty - but lenovo do not recognise my onsite warranty because the distributor (Insight.co.uk) failed to send me the email to enable me to activate the warranty and Insight are taking ages to sort this out.
