display problem

Hello all,
I'm working on X60s, and one day after rebooting Windows started up with the lowest screen resolution and with no option to change it.
the only way to overcome this, is to disable the display adapter and to reboot again.
this way the screen resolution got back to normal, but the graphic icon disappeared and no monitor was detected by the device manager!!!
the display adapter is "Mobile interl 945GM Express Chipset Family" and i updated it from intel site even though the automatic thinkpad update didn't recognize that a newer driver version is available.
if i enable the display adapter again, after reboot i get low screen resolution again.
any ideas?
