Do you use an LCD cloth when you shut your laptop?

I noticed the other day after carrying my x60 in my backpack the trackpoint left a mark on the lcd. Anyone use one of those microfiber cloths you put on the keyboard to protect the monitor when it's closed?
If so - where do you get them?

Doesn't it make things even worse by descreasing the space between the keyboard and display ?

There is still contact, but it means that the grease and dirt from the pointing stick don't end up on the screen.

Or, worse yet, scratch the screen. (Mine is scratched from having been compressed too much in by backpack.)
I'm hoping that the X61 might incorporate the LCD rollcage, but I suspect that it will be T61 only.

This is well worth it! Without the protection the trackpoint will eventually permanently damage the screen.
The Optimist LCD cleaner is also excellent!

Highly unlikely.

I am guessing you haven't encountered the crusty hard trackpoint like the rest of us

If you want to see an example, I welcome you to drop by and see my X31. I have permanent marks on the screen, from the Trackpoint and some of the keys as a result of carrying the X31 in a Lowepro Computrekker backpack, compressed by some rather heavy camera gear.

I see it on my classmates' T60 and X60 Thinkpads. It starts as a grease mark and after 8 months they can't get it off. Even the ones who don't use the trackpoint and use the trackpad exclusively get a pressure mark after long enough. I'm not exactly sure what the cloth is doing for me, but it seems to distribute the pressure and keeps grease and dirt from my finger off the screen.

I've started using the soft dome and moved to the soft rim after the dome was worn out, became hard and lost its texture.

The preemptive solution to that would be to use a better bag. I carry mine in a backpack, that has a padded laptop compartment, and even when I stuff it with things, the laptop doesn't get squeezed.

They should probably clean the screen more often.
