X60 WWAN, Telus and MC8755

OK, so there is something strange afoot. Looking at Lenovo Canada's WWAN page, all the pages are plastered with Telus logos and talk about EVDO:
http://www.pc.ibm.com/ca/wwan/index.html
Now, they list nine WWAN notebooks, three T60s, three X60s (including the 1709-HDU which I'm looking at) and three X60 tablets. All have "Telus WWAN" but when you look at the detailed specs, they don't have EVDO -- they have the Sierra Wireless MC8755 WWAN card, which is UMTS/HSDPA (and EDGE/GPRS), more commonly sold in Europe. And Telus only does CDMA and EVDO, not GSM/GPRS or UMTS.
So what's the scoop? Do these really have some cards other than the MC8755, and thus work on Telus? Or do they have the MC8755, and they work on Rogers rather than Telus? Or am I missing something obvious and MC8755 somehow works on Telus's EVDO network after all?
