if you buy a thinkpad x60 from another retailer such as buy.com and the x60 comes with a 3 year depot warranty. Can you upgrade the warranty with thinkpad protection with lenovo?

I think you can if you send\copy your reciept and send it to them. As proof of purchase. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, you can. Your retailer should be able to do that for you, as well.

They are offering their own warranty.
Do you know how will the retailer do that?
Thanks in advance

I am sure you can. After all X60 is lenovo's own made baby product.
Just ask the retailer further details on doing that, if not then you better can get in touch with lenovo since you have to pay something in both cases.
