X60s Dead, the end?

#1 Post by Brave_turtle » Sat May 12, 2007 1:03 am

Hi,

My x60s does not want to start anymore. Here's what I have done:

1- I used CCleaner like usual but deleted some .dll by accident. I then start having black screen of death about every 2-3 boot-up.

2- I tried to use my XP CD to repair the missing .dll but at 74% i had a failure and it crashed. (Using external optical drive)

Now when I try to reboot, I always get the black screen of death or the windows log-in but it will actually never log in. Also, I cannot boot on my optical drive also!

I was thinking to restore from factory but I can't get the f11 option in order to restore it. The only way I can get into the OS is by safe mode. Hopefully, I can save all my important files.

What can I do now whitout factory recovery and optical drive access? Please help

try using this:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62978

see if your mbr is repairable and if you can boot into rr again via f11.

if this fails, inspect you partition via acronis disk director booting from usb, if possible- check bios boot order, cannot imagine not being able to boot from usb!-- with dd set rr partition active! should be able to boot into rr then!

if all fails, take hdd out, hook onto pc via adapter and try from there.

good luck
