Hi fellow thinkpad lovers,

I am the proud owner of a x60s with 2GB ram and 60GB hd  who just formatted his hard disk  . Trying to re-install windows xp from scratch i'm receiving the following error message  :

'Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in you computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer and that any disk-related hardware configuration is connected. Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3'

Needless to say that my hard drive appears well in bios (I had downloaded the latest version before the format)...

Any ideas / recommendations will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi bigG welcome to the forum.

If you go into BIOS, by pressing F1 when starting, in CONFIG select Sierial ATA and change the setting from AHCI to Compatability. That should do the trick.
