New Subtle Leak about X61 Tablet

#1 Post by SFWrtr » Wed May 23, 2007 10:27 am

The only new information here is that Lenovo is gearing up the web pages for the X61 Tablet. While not as substantial as the "Ivory Letter," this is somewhat of a relief if you want the X61 Tablet, esp. after Lenovo posted X61/X61s specification pages and neglected to do the same for the X61 tablet

The first is so that Google and the other search engines will be ready to take you to the appropriate page on release day. If you look at the keywords on the X60 tablet technology page (the one with the list of X60Tablet configurations with the blue customize buttons), you find "x61 tablet" is now a keyword. Display the source of the page to see the following:

"meta name="Keywords" content="ThinkPad X, X series, Tablet, Notebooks, ThinkPad notebooks, xseries, x-series, ThinkPad, Thinkvantage Technologies, ultraportable, mobile, light, reliability, wireless, lightweight, Active Protection System, x60 tablet, x61 tablet" /"

In addition, the Warranty Service Upgrade (WSU) Mobile Products web page is now updated with X61 Tablet part numbers.

For example:

ThinkPad X61 Tablet 7764 2 Year Onsite Repair 9x5 Next Business Day LPL513 41C9167 $197

Okay, I admit it, I am obsessed about getting my tablet bought already. Is there a tablet buyers anonymous forum here somewhere?

I, too, am obsessed about getting the X61 tablet as soon as possible.

The biggest difference between the X60 and X61 series as far as I can tell is the GMA X3100 graphics chip which will make a huge difference once the driver issues are ironed out.

I've resigned myself to having my new X61 tablet become obsolete in 6-9 months with the release of the new 45 nm Intel processor. Then there's the successor to Santa Rosa which is already in development. But you have to jump off the train somewhere, and this seems like a good time.
