The SVGA+ is now Indoor/Outdoor viewable, something called "SuperView." Now that's a big improvement right there!

I think the X60t MultiTouch screen was already SuperView as well.

this is great. that super view sxga+ screen is a huge help. I was concerned about the sxga+ from some photos of it that looked dull. Hope they get up the ordering part shortly.

It makes sense about the multi/multi screen being superview, since it looked brighter than the sxga+ did on the x60.

I also wonder if it's better to just order by phone or use the web site?

Does it mean that X61 no longer have FFS (IPS derivate) SXGA+ panel ?

Thanks for the info. I was wondering what that meant! For me, the most tempting new Thinkpad model is this SXGA+ X61 tablet, but I doubt I would buy one because it's a tad too heavy.

EDIT: I am not the only early bird on this forum? So many people are up already. Or are you guys (Tomh and gdavis) staying up really late?

I get up early, usually between 5 and 5:30 EST. And of course thinkpads.com is part of my morning ritual!

but the spec. is far from my expectation.

I check all the X61, X61s, X61t.

Turbo memory, XSGA+ is not available now.

I've wating for about 2 month to get the X61t with the option above.

Now I think that i should wait 1 or 2 more month to get these.

zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

what is the difference between the XSGA and the XSGA+?

also if you upgrade to 2 x 1gb you get the turbo memory option... what does turbo memory do? (id' call lenovo but i was on hold for 45 min last time before I got to talk to the guy that told me x61t would be out in august....)

Resolution is the difference.

XSGA is 1280x1024
XSGA is 1400x1050

and Intel turbo memory makes boost speed up. OS and application's booting time is reduced by the turbo memory. It is just like Ready boost in Vista.

I think that things the most valuable development and shouldn't be exclude from Santa Rosa platform are intel turbo memory and 4965 AGN.
Without it!? new platform is nothing.

Actually SXGAand SXGA+, but otherwise nekobus97 is correct. ReadyBoost will, infact, use the "turbo" memory cache.

Without SXGA+ (for the tablets) and turbo memory (which is actually available already, what does the new platform actually give you?

- Support for 4 GB of memory
- Much-improved graphics performance (GMA X3000)
- 4965AGN networking
- New wireless antennas (need more detail on this)

Add turbo memory support to that, and it's still a worthwhile list. Maybe not enough to dump an existing X60, but a good list if you are upgrading from an older ThinkPad (like, say, an X31).

hmm anyone know if they will put SXGA+ on an x61t? I'm currently using an office T41 that has SXGA+ and I dont know if I can deal with a smaller resolution...

I'm surprised nobody has commented on the prices. They're amazingly close to the X60/s/t prices during the Memorial day sale.

In fact, the base-model X60 looks to be $150 more than the X61, which seems a bit strange, likewise the fact that the X61 is more than the X61s (granted the clock is lower on the new X61s).

Does anybody know the difference between an UltraConnect 2x2 and 2x3 antenna? Also, is the Core Duo 7300LV a typo (should be Core 2)? Thanks.

It seems to me that the new x61 is a good price right now, but I am confused on the UltraConnect 2x2 and 2x3 antenna, what are they?

And I can't seem to enable the turbo memory option.

They also have lots of errors on the site, hopefully they can iron them out before too long

My concern as well. Sad if true.

Lenovo sales told me this morning (when I went to order mine) that the turbo memory is not yet available, and also the SXGA+ Superview panel is not available for the x61t. They are supposed to be available in one month, so I am waiting.

I felt that the previous SXGA+ screen (which is still available but now for the x61t) is not bright enough, which the new one is supposed to improve.

another month? is that for the non-tablets as well (turbo memory option)?

Such a pain, why can't they just release everything at the same time.

I only asked him about the tablet version for the turbo memory. It may be because they are trying to outfit the board with another connector so that WWAN and Turbo memory can be used together, as this was one of the problems they discussed on the Lenovo blog on May 9 when they launched the T and R models with Santa Rosa. People complained about only having one or the other installed.

2x2 and 2x3 are the new 802.11n antenna configurations. The former can send and receive two MIMO datastreams, the latter can receive three for higher throughput. At least in theory, on an uncongested 802.11n network, 2x3 will provide higher performance.

Yes, the 7300 CPUs are all Core 2 Duo.

What's new with the X61T:

L7500 only US CPU option
SuperView SVGA (apparently when available...)
Verizon card is now the fast Rev A card.
Turbo memory is available, but still not with WWAN (as stated).
512MB option, for us cheapskates who will update their own RAM.
Vista Ultimate or Home Premium now available, but not 64-bit
Intel 802.11N available.

Congrats man! I'd have suggested to get the 1GB 1 dimm, that way you wouldn't have to worry about selling off the 512mb stick.

You gonna put 64 bit on it? What's the ship date? Let me know if you try out the MCE with the new chipset.

I thought I'd be the first to order as it became available this morning, but now I'm having second thoughts. I hate the trackpoint. I've tried to like it but I still hate it. Using the wireless mouse is great but drains the battery ( i have a G7). I probably have an old BT mouse somewhere as well, but it's not as slick as G7 and I couldn't get myself to buy yet another mouse.

I have to wait until May 19th for shipping (assuming no delays), but I'm happy I'm done anticipating jumping into the pool. I am jazzed about the cellular card. This will be nice.

I went for the 512MB option as I am buying 2x2GB from Crucial and I saved $55 that way. RAM came down in price again, today. $189 for 2GB stick! (That was over $400 not so long ago.)

I do plan to go to 64-bit, but I'll wait for Lenovo to bless it first. Meanwhile, it'll be an incentive not to over-populate my disk.

I am sorry, but what is MCE?

As for the trackpoint, I've been a fan for a decade. I am a touch typist and the trackpoint allows me to type and mouse without moving my hands. Besides, using the pad causes my thumbs to ache - arthritis... My DELL had it, but no longer offers it. Only Lenovo, so I guess I was headed to Lenovo anyway.

congratulations on your order. I decided to wait for the superview sxga+ to be available in a month and also with turbo memory in the WWAN model.

The MCE is media center edition Vista (or xp I guess), which comes on the upper levels of OS order options.
