X61 (non-tablet) and Turbo Memory

#1 Post by aMadUrchin » Fri Jun 01, 2007 2:38 pm

When I try to order a X61 I can't get the Turbo Memory option to appear, however this is already possible with X61s and the X61 Tablet.

Does anyone know when this might be enabled? One month?

Also if I order one right now would I be able to put in a turbo memory card later by myself? If so what should I watch out for when ordering (like what options not to get so the slot would be free)?

Thanks

Did you select a Windows Xp operating system?
Selection of a XP Operating system does not allow a configuration with Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache. Please choose a Vista Operating system if Intel® Turbo Memory hard drive cache is required.

also, turbo memory is only available with the NON-WWAN model in vista with the x61 (tablet) since the wwan card uses its slot (at least for now).

I'm selecting vista and no WWAN, but it's still grayed out, did you guys actually get the option to appear?

Anyhow, so if I get one without the WWAN the slot would be free and I would be able to fit a turbo memory card in right?

Also, you need 1G or above system memory for it to run.

I think there is a problem with the web page, as I can't get it to enable, either. On the X61s page, though, I have no trouble selecting it though.

Yes.

I think it's broken as well. As it was said above

"turbo memory is only available with the NON-WWAN model in vista with the x61 (tablet) since the wwan card uses its slot (at least for now)."

However, on the lenovo order page you can only select the turbo-cache IF you have also selected the WWAN - which seems to be backwards.

I hope they get it sorted out soon as I do not want a clunky WWAN but I am interested in TurboCache.

It also looks like you can not get the higher speed processors unless you get WWAN - again, unfortunate.
