250GB Hard Drive for ThinkPads?

#1 Post by xaveon » Sat Jun 02, 2007 3:33 am

I was wondering if anyone has tried fitting one of these Samsung 250GB hard drives in their thinkpads? It would be really nice to have of have the extra 90GB over the available 160GB from Lenovo. I know that Lenovo usually use Hitachi drives, so I was wondering if this Samsung drive would work.

Hi

I have the "little brother" of this disk in my X60s, the 160GB Samsung HM160JI. According to Samsung, the 250GB model has the same physical specs, so it should fit.
But I'd also be interested if anyone actually tried it.

Regards, Martin

Yes, it does. The gyroscope is on the motherboard, not in the harddrive.

Do you think speed will be to much difference compared to 7200 RPM ?, I was thinking to buy the Hitachi 7K200, nontheless this one is 250GB and 5400 RPM does not bad, what do you think ?
