Hi, these 5400rpm drives where tested in a UK magazine and have very similar scores to Seagate 7200rpm models

But with better battery/less heat. Something to consider...

It's an expensive drive. Newegg has the 160gb 5400 RPM at ~$150.
Will this work on the x61 tablets?

Hybrid drive is only supported by Vista, no use for other OS.

"the Samsung HM16HJI puts in a good performance for a 2.5-inch drive, with sequential access reaching 45MB/s and random access around 30MB/s, matching desktop 3.5-inch drives in terms of sheer performance."
It's pretty good for a 5400rpm drive, but the performance is nowhere close to the Seagate 7200.2 which rated 60MB/s.

With the current cache on the hybrid HDD being a mere 256MB VS the 1GB through intel turbo memory, the price premium may not be worth it if you're buying a new x61 with intel turbo memory option. Anadtech had an article which actually showed that this option hurts performance, though its an early report witout optimized drivers and such.
I was thinking of buying the standard 60gb 5400 rpm and saving the ~$90 upgrade to 160gb 5400 rpm and replace it with the aftermarket 160gb hybrid. But with a mere 256mb onenand, and lack of benchmarks, I'm not sure it's a worthwhile hassle. Also anyone know if the santa rosa actually supports sata 150 HDDs?
