so... in an attempt to clear up the x61t screen issues... I call lenovo to talk to a rep about what is offered and if the website is merely a typo. for those just joining us, the website x61t customization page lists 2 types of screens http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/cont ... 0000164%3A
basically 12.1 multiview SXGA (1280 x 1024)
or a 12.1 multiview + multitouch XGA

one of the big questions was... is the SXGA a typo and actually supposed to be SXGA+ (1400 x 1050)

so.... dial 1-866-96-think
press 2 for product info, 1 for home, on hold for a sales rep.
20 min go by on hold.. thats ok.. speaker phone and at my computer doing some real work.

A rep named Scott picks up... I ask him to tell me the specs of the x61t screens because the customization page doesnt jive with the tech spec sheet comparing the x61t and the x60t. he says he doesnt know. So I asked him if he could transfer me to someone who did know. I get transfered to an IBM tech center in Atlanta. (yay for not outsourcing to india)

so a few more phone menus later, i'm on hold for another 10 min. I get a nice tech guy named Alfred S. I'm thinking to myself.. hell this is like tier 3 tech support.. i know i'm going to get some answers here. So I ask Alfred, after he took my information to start a case, "what screen resolutions are offered on the x61t?" I then go to explain how there was a lot of speculation on how they lenovo site is actually a typo and SXGA should read SXGA+. I'm met with silence. That's not good. He asks to put me on hold while he "digs up" this information. that's fine with me.. he probably has access to some really nice info so I'm patient. 10 min go by.

Alfred comes back on the phone and tells me how there was a tech something or other on duty that just happened to be there and yadda yadda yadda. The bottom line? He says to me,
"I'M SORRY WE HAVE ZERO INFORMATION ON THE X61T"
I ask, what do you mean zero information? specifically on the screen issue or zero information? no no, they have zero information. At this point I'm baffled and stuttering into the phone a bit... I asked him... can you transfer me to someone that does have information about this thinkpad?

him: no.

me: no?

him: no. They have not released any internal information about this product.

I asked, "so you're telling me that... IBM and Lenovo are selling this product, and no one know's what they're selling? How does this work? Seriously? no one knows what the hell they're selling? How is this possible?"

him: I'm sorry it appears that they just haven't seen fit to release this to us. I'll have to bring this issue up with my team leader.

me: ok well.. thanks i guess.

so my question is... should I start shorting the hell out of lenovo stock? or is this common in the Tech fields?

******
edit: OK, so completely forgetting to ask about the difference between multiview and superview, I wrote this post while on hold with lenovo yet again. I talked to Chris ID: 109 and he basically told me that multiview and superview were the same thing. OH BUT WAIT. He also told me that

SXGA listed on the x61t customization page did, in fact, GIVE
1400 X 1050 resolution
so, he told me to put his ID at the end of my order and he would email me the specific specs. So, you heard it from him through me, the current SXGA does in fact, offer 1400 x 1050 resolution. and Multiview was basically the same as Superview. So, I guess i'm off to order now, but i'm also sharpening my blade as well... heads will roll if this is screwed up!

Here is some additionally info about the Superview vs. MultiView theme and their slightly differences, see:

http://www.gottabemobile.com/UpdateOnLe ... ology.aspx

Related to the resolution, the X61Ts are just offered with XGA (1024 x 768) or SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) panels.
