(For the X60)

Is one of the two better?

I was told that the Atheros cause more heat but it would be more powerfull. Is that true?

Are there any differences on softwares? work with Linux?

thanks

well i had the Thinkpad AGN wireless card(the Atheros one) on my x60T before i sent it back for the x61T. it was not automatically detected by Ubuntu 7.04 when I installed it, but it would be possible to make it work with Linux I would have just had to done some more stuff with it(theres a good article on these forums about how to do that).

on my x61T i got the Intel AGN card and hopefully it will automatically be detected but who knows.

I didnt really feel like the Atheros card ran too hot, and it seemed to work pretty well for the 5 days i had it, but I'll have something to compare it with once I get the my x61 with the integrated Intel wireless card . I would guess the Intel would be cooler and use less battery based on the fact that it is integrated, but as for performance I cant really say.

It is commonly known that the Atheros card are the better ones. Just search around the board and you will see. Also the Intel Card does not work with Mac OSx, but the Atheros will.
