Right now you can only buy them inside some Dell laptops. Retail units are not available yet.

Why not buy the Samsung SpinPoint HM250JI.

I just received mine (for my new x61t arriving in July)

I bought it on newegg.com
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822152094

and received it the next day.

I have had much better luck with the SpinPoints than the DeathStars.

It's no replacement for the 7K200 though ...

yes that is true. I would love to buy a 7K200. I don't know how this would impact my battery...but the speed would be great.

Thanks I might buy one of them, are toy good?, I know for sure Hitachi is fine, their drives never fail, but I do not know Samsung, though they provide you with 3 Years Warranty Parts and Labor, I might be tempted to buy one?, price is ok and capacity is amazing, thanks

Really though, is the speed that noticeble for the battery trade off? How much usage time do you lose out of the battery when using a 7200 RPM drive and how much speed do you gain from it?

The performance difference is significant if you deal with large files (photos, video, music etc.).

Power consumption (active idle/read):
5K100: 0.85W/2.0W
7K100: 1.1W/2.3W
7K200: 1.0W/2.3W

So realistically you will use up an additional 0.2W -- that's maybe 2% additional power consumption on an X60/X61, and less yet on a T60/T61.
