x61(s) fan noise

Does anyone have any reports of how loud the various X61 variations can run and how low can the CPUs be run at with NHC.

For example my X60 runs at 1Ghz and the fan keeps coming on and off which is slightl annoying.

Id like the 2.2Ghz X61 for the occasional processor heavy tasks but could be swung to the X61s if it runs much slower (600Mhz or 800Hz) for general Word/Email stuff etc. I guess battery life would extend too with the abiltiy to lower as far as possible.
