ReadyBoost Memory Tradeoff, CPU v/s HD Access Speed
ReadyBoost Memory Tradeoff, CPU v/s HD Access Speed
I was doing today some test with my 4GB SD Flash Card configured as ReadyBoost Drive, and EVERY TIME the SD Card was accessed the CPU goes up to 70% or 80%, so you might get faster access to the HD data (even though I do have 7200 RPM disks) but the tradeoff is CPU usage (battery usage) and a MUCH warmer laptop, with ReadyBoost the Temperature never goes below 60C, without it will be around 55C, any experience ?, comments, thanks
Is this with the built-in SD card reader? X60 or X61? The higher CPU utilization seems to be a characteristic of the built-in SD (X6x) and CF (X3x) readers -- and that would definitely mean more heat as well.

X220 (4287-2W5, Windows 8 Pro) / X31 (2672-CXU, XP Pro) / X61s (7668-CTO, Windows 8 Pro)
Yes, is the BUILT-IN Reader, for SD and CF, I've checked both and the CPU utilization is VERY HIGH, not convenient at all, I think it is better to install more RAM.tomh009 wrote:Is this with the built-in SD card reader?
