Some issues with my new X60 Tablet
I am having two issues with my new X60 tablet which arrived in thursday...
#1. Upon booting to Vista, the HD is accessed CONSTANTLY. I have been loading Reliability & Performance monitor and the first few days it was the search indexer (which is to be expected on a new system). However, now that the search indexer is complete, its now a new culprit... It runs at 100% HD for the first 10-15 minutes, maybe longer, after boot... Seems to be some System Volume Information thing, not sure what it is...
Here is a screenshot of the culprit - http://www.iiki.org/pics/hdaccess.jpg
#2. I went ahead and created my own custom power schemes in the Lenovo Power Manager. Both Battery and A/C are set to adaptive CPU, with screen brightness at 4 of 7 on Battery and 7 of 7 on A/C. Problem is, when i restart the system, the screen brightness starts on 4 of 7 even when plugged in. I have to unplug and replug the power cable in everytime to get it to bump up to full brightness (even if it was plugged in and at 7/7 before i shut down). Any ideas?

#2 is a known power management issue that has been mentioned several times.
In regards to #1 I'd recommend doing a custom restore and get rid of pretty much all the extra software. Also you might want to uninstall a few other things then turn off UAC. The only thing I kept was Ez eject utility for the dock.

This is Vista's SuperFetch doing its thing and trying to learn what you do with the machine. It is also doing the search indexing for the instant search in the Start menu. Hard disk activity will subside considerably after several days of use.proaudioguy wrote: In regards to #1 I'd recommend doing a custom restore and get rid of pretty much all the extra software. With 2GB of RAM, you probably shouldn't because it can actually help with that amount of memory. If you really want to, set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters\EnableSuperfetch to 0 (disclaimer: haven't actually tried that, so do it at your own risk).proaudioguy wrote:In XP I always have index service turned off. How do I get rid of "super fetch"?
