Pulsing fan and Vista/IBM software questions

After mulling it over for quite a while, finally picked up an X60 tablet. Had it for a while and so far I love it. Two quick questions I was hoping someone here might be able to help me with though. First, I'm confused as to how the Vista power and wireless programs interact with the Lenovo ones. It seems like the options and performance are much better with the Lenovo ones, so is there a way to disable Vista's power and wireless?
And second, sometimes when my tablet is sitting on a flat surface (desk) the fan on the back left begins to make a noticable sound. Its not the fan running on high, it almost sounds as if it is rubbing against something and sometimes does this in a pulsing manner (as if the fan is wobbling?). As soon as I move the laptop into any other position other than sitting flat on the desk the noise stops, but obviously this is of limited help if I actually want to work on the desk. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I'm really not bothered enough to send it back to Lenovo over a loose fan, but at the same time it is fairly annoying.
Thanks very much for any help.
