Hi~
Thinking about getting a notebook stand to use with my keyboard...
Has anybody used the ibm adjustable notebook stand? Does it fit well with the X60 with ultrabase?
Would you recommend it? If not, which brand works best?
Best,
Jack

Ultrabase + Adjustable Monitor Stand = OK Solution.
I am using the IBM adjustable notebook stand with an x60 tablet and a Dell 19" LCD for a two monitor solution with Ultramon software to streamline window shifting.
The Ultrabase will rest on the monitor stand, but it does not attach to the stand the way the T60 port replicators attach. It simply rests at the base of the stand. It is a shame there is not a docking option for the x60s.
The Ultrabase is almost the same depth as the lip of the notebook stand and if shifted all the way to the right, the ultra base is well supported. Docking and undocking the machine is easy and the built in cable management on the stand works well as long as you only use the connectors on the back of the Ultrabase (USB on the side of the ultrabase clutters things). The DVD drive can also eject and function without issue.
Overall, it is an acceptable solution that takes up a little more desk space than it should. I am somewhat spoiled as I am leaving a Toshiba m200 Tablet that had one of the best docking solutions I have ever seen in a notebook computer.
I will try to take a couple of pictures when I am back in my office on Monday.
I am also considering opening the Ultrabase and drilling a VESA hole pattern to mount the Ultrabase on an adjustable monitor arm with built in cable management. If I get this ambitious, I'll post some pictures.

Looking forward to hearing more on that.I am also considering opening the Ultrabase and drilling a VESA hole pattern to mount the Ultrabase on an adjustable monitor arm with built in cable management. If I get this ambitious, I'll post some pictures.
I have played with flexing monitor stands to keep my X31 at a ergonomic orientation and height without much success. I found that even with a very solid mounting, it was not possible to find a good typing posture because your hands have to rest somewhere else too to be comfortable. And the amount of monitor shake become perceptible after a while even when I had a pretty solid all metal monitor arm, but not an LCD arm. This of course can be avoided by using an external keyboard to type but that sort of deminishes the value of a Thinkpad.
I am now settled down to using dual monitors/dual computers using the Thinkpad keyboard as the sole keyboard using Synergy free software, which I can vouch works amazingly well.
