Fresh Vista Install Through USB Question

#1 Post by mgags7 » Fri Jun 15, 2007 10:19 am

Hey guys, new to the board of course, anyways, I just ordered an x60t, and have been reading a good bit. I found that page with the writeup on installing a fresh copy of Vista, and had just one quick question.

I'll be using an "internal" cd/dvd drive out of my old laptop with an IDE to USB adapter cord and a Vista business DVD for the install. My question is does the laptop load a USB driver so that it will be able to boot from a CD over this thing? How will I even set that, removable media? I'm not exactly familiar with the IBM BIOS yet so any help in that field would be great as well.

Thanks,
Matt

Starting from Cold boot.

1. Hold F1 and press power button, the screen will inform you about entering into BIOS.
2. Go into startup.
3. Then Boot.
4. Then change the boot priority order by setting USB CD/DVD to #1 choice.
5. Press F10 to save and exit.

P.S. Also make sure USB bios support is enabled in Config>USB.
