X61s TurboMemory upgrade

Hello. I just got my X61s with built in WWAN. I got the WWAN option because I wanted to have the integrated antenna, but I want to use Sprint. Putting the Sprint mini-pci card produces an 1802 error, but I still have hope that there will be a solution someday.
For the mean time, I replaced the Verizon WWAN card with the Lenovo Intel 1GB turbo memory card. I installed the Lenovo drivers, but I'm not sure if the computer is using the memory.
I dug around, but I can't find where Vista uses the Turbo memory. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Ok, found it. It is Intel Turbo Console. It was a program folder, not listed in the Control Panel. It says it is working.

Can you please let me know exactly where that program folder is located. Thanks.

Start, All Programs, Intel Turbo Memory
You have to install the Lenovo driver for it first. Get it from here

jgsx, may i ask how difficult was the install, where did you get the part and how much was it?
if i get an X61 (no WWAN) i should definitely have a slot for this, right?

Wonder if we can upgrade this to the 2gb / 4gb when it is released

So does that mean you need 2 gigs for 2 gigs of ram and 4 gigs for 4 gigs of ram? If the OS is using the card for hibernation then it makes sense.
Where do I sign up? I need to get this working on my X60T.

no, you don't need to match the turbo memory
and no, you can't use it because you have x60t, not x61t :/

How much disassembly is required to instal the card? I am not tech-savy but would really like to include the card.

Why couldn't I just install that card in my X60? If I plug an SD card or USB key in, it asks if I want to use device to make windows faster. Why wouldn't this just be a built in version of flash memory?

The "turbo memory" support is built into the chipset. It's like trying to install a Core 2 Duo CPU into a T43 -- it just won't do anything.

What about ready boost?

ReadyBoost, with a standard memory card or USB memory stick, will work fine.

But can I use the turbo memory for readyboost? AND, isn't it the same thing? I'd rather install something in the unused slot. It has been said the SD slot isn't fast enough and it would be silly to have a USB thumbdrive sticking out of a tablet. That's an accident waiting to happen.

You have no control over how turbo memory is used (at least at this time) -- Vista will use half for ReadyDrive and half for ReadyBoost.
If you don't want something sticking out of the side of the ThinkPad, use a CardBus card reader with a 2-4 GB high-speed CF or SD card. It's internal, it's fast, it's fairly inexpensive. But it won't help boot times.

So I guess I should have sent my X60 T back and got the X61T if I wanted to be able to boot quickly?

You'll only get a minimal time difference with turbo memory.

Unfortunately there are only X61t without WWAN or TurboMemory available in Germany (models with TurboMemory should come on a later date lenovo says).
Now I want to order a x61t without TurboMemory, buy one by myself and put it in the x61t. Lenovo says it is not possible to add TurboMemory by yourself (perhaps they simply do not know, that the modules are available for customers). I thought it should not be a problem, because it is only a simple mini-PCI (Express) card.
Now you're my hope jgsx

How difficult was it to put the TurboMemory in your x61s and does it work properly?

They say no only as they don't support YOU adding the card yourself!

Yes, this could of course be a reason. But there should be no technical problem to do it myself nor there should be negative affects on warranty, right?

Sorry for the late response.
Yes, you CAN upgrade your x61s with turbomemory.
My x61s shipped with WWAN. You just remove the WWAN miniPCI card and replace it with the Turbomemory miniPCI card and install the Lenovo driver that I linked to earlier in the thread. It works fine.
I actually returned my x61s because I felt like there was VERY little improvement in performance over my x60s, so,
I have a turbomemory miniPCI card for sale. I paid about $140 for it from Lenovo. I'll let it go for $110 shipped.
