Will this work with the X61/X61T? How come nobody's talking about it?

For now, Santa Rosa only supports 667Hmz for memory bandwidth.
Even you get one of these, it will still running 667hmz, so why waste your money?

Would enabling 800MHz support just be a simple BIOS update or on the motherboard/hardware level?

If the latter, would the X61/X61T be updated later this year to supoort this?

800 MHZ DDR2 memory will definitely not be supported until Intel releases the new 45nm Penryn processor, which will supposedly be in late 2007. Intel will release a refresh of the Santa Rosa chipset to go with the new chip. This chipset refresh will possibly include support for DDR2-800.

Montevina, the successor to the Santa Rosa platform, is due in Q2 2008. Reports suggest Intel will be abandoning DDR2 memory for Montevina in favor of the more power-efficient DDR3.
