@all
on exchanging the sierra wireless wan card mc5720 fru41w1177 ( the us version) to a European version, i receive "error 1804, unauthorized wan card inserted".

contacting ibm over here, their back-office refuses support, as they state my machine being an us version simply not mentioned for the worldwide market!?- as they claim this machine not being supported by them when working with an european wan card!

how absolutely braindead can one get? i didnt ask them to swap my card to a european one, but bought one! and now they restrict me using it.

anyone with any idea on how to get my internal mini pci card umts solution going?, maybe something like the no1802 patch known for the t40s, only for my 1804 probs?

Why don't you write the hack and share it with us.

What is the FRU of your new card? Have you tried the latest BIOS?

howdy,

tried various cards; namely fru42T0804, fru42T0835 and a mc5270 extracted from a hp nc6400 (naturally all european frequencies)= all error1804.

on the topic of writing a hack: SURE, i would, if only I could!!!

yes, tried everything imaginable else: upgraded bios (all 6363 series models, regardless of european or else localization btw. use the same bios!!!), cleared cmos, reset defaults= no success bypassing the error!

any programmers around interested in solving this?

Here is a very similar topic.
