A clarification on Lenovo's Return Policy

#1 Post by mgags7 » Fri Jun 22, 2007 8:39 am

Hey guys, after ordering my x60t a few weeks ago, I did a lot of reading on this forum, and decided I should return it and get an x61t.

This morning I spoke with a Lenovo rep, and the return policy is as follows. The 21 days thing is correct, you have 21 days to get an RMA #. Contrary to what I read though, the restocking fee is only applied if you open the box, if you do not open the box, the only thing you have to cover is shipping back to them. If you do open the box, you can still return it, it will just cost you the restocking fee.

PS I think I made the right decision switching, thanks for the info :D

Yeah, I heard the same, although someone posted on NBR today that they got a pre-paid return label from UPS too. I wonder if the rep can do that at their discretion or not.

EDIT: Got my first feather on this post. :)

Seems like a standard return policy. Glad to hear.

well, i did the exact same thing you did(send back new x60t for x61t when i saw prices were the same). but when i called to do this, they told me when you are returning a laptop, if you go ahead and order the new one while you are on the phone with them, they will waive the restocking fee on the old one, even if the box was opened(i had been using my x60t for almost a week)

so you will want to do this if it is not too late. just tell them you want to return and you will go ahead and order the new one right then.

Yeah I'm on hold right now trying to get them to let me order now but to not charge me until the refund for the other laptop goes thru. I wish I would have gotten the original guy's extension number....
