SXGA+ screen of X61 Tablet

#1 Post by nekobus97 » Sun Jul 01, 2007 2:54 am

:?: :?: :?:

Hello, I'm neko from Korea south.

I got one quetion that is a big obstacle and preventing me form buying X61 Tablet.

So, please share you guys' precious information with me~~~

This is it~~

In korea, nowadays, most of the SXGA+ LCD of X60 tablet has one big problem. the starting is flikering of 1/3 of LCD screen and then that part of screen blackout.

lenovo korea is exchanging all of the problemed X60 tablet.

Here is my question.

Do X60 and X61 tablet with SXGA+ sold in US has the same poblem?

I'm willing to buy X61 tablet sooner or later. but this X61 tablet is not released in korea and It would be Sep. or later.
To make matters worse, there is a rumor Lenovo korea is not going to release the SXGA+ model because of the LCD problem.
SO I almost make my mind to purchase US model. but to encourage my decision, i need kind answers of upper question.

Please Help ME~~~~~~

well, i have an x61 SXGA+ tablet, but they only started shipping out about 2 weeks ago so we havent had a lot of time with them. i can say that so far i have not experienced any of the screen errors you are referring to. no flickering or blackouts, but like i said, ive only had mine about 10 days.

ill report here if it starts doing that for any reason, but i dont expect it to.

not good luck with screens

#6 Post by pendragn » Tue Jul 03, 2007 12:32 am

hiya...I have had my x60 tablet since mid February and I have to say I have had bad luck with screens. I purchased my tablet from PCConnection with the SXGA+ screen and am on my 4th screen. After 1.5 months the screen started to flicker on the bottom third. The replacement lasted 1 week, and happened again. The next screen I was using on a warm afternoon, and the entire screen went dark, the 'inverter' burned out and the light went out.

To be fair, the PCConneciton folks I purchased the extended warranty through were -very- good in their response, but it was frustrating to have these problems in the first place. I would say that those problems are endemic throughout everywhere these laptops are sold, so make sure that you get a warranty plan that you are happy with, and hope for the best.

This screen rocks, though, and is much better then the others offered in this line, I would not trade it for anything.

My three-month old X60t already went back for depot repair for the screen problem once (two months ago) and might need it again very soon.

That time, it was intermittant for about a week, then finally the screen problem was permanent (i.e. I couldn't make it go away by opening and closing the screen or applying pressure on the case).

Two weeks ago, it starting doing it again... its still intermittant, but I started a service call, and have a DHL box ready to send it for repair as soon as its permanent again.

This is a big concern, since I only got 1-year warranty... I don't want to be without my Tablet five days every month for a continual problem, then be stuck with a lemon after that.
