x60s Comes out of standby in transit

I am having the following problem with an x60s. When it it is put into standby or hibernate it does not stay that way.
Once the lid is shut, it does not stay in standby. Either because it is faulty or because the lid presses on one of the restart keys (which would also seem to be a fault).
Is this a known problem? Has anyone else seen it. Can anyone advise.

I've seen a couple of others that reported the same thing with other model ThinkPads. Nothing was ever resolved AFAIK.

I've got a similar problem: mine doesn't go into standby mode ever, nor the screensaver mode. When I force the screen to blank out (Fn + F3), the screen would turn itself back on after a few seconds.
Something is restarting the countdown timer for the amount of time the system has been idle.
I noticed that when this happens, the process "System" is taking about 5-15% of the CPU usage on my X60.

Ok. I have a bit more information - I think it is related in someway to the network presence.
If I got to sleep having been connected to a network it always wakes up of its own accord while closed.
OTOH if I am not connected to a network or near any wireless network, after i go to sleep it seems to stay that way.
Is it so called 'wake up on lan', being triggered by wireless networks. Is this even possible.
Any help appreciated

I thought "Wake on LAN" only applied to ethernet networks, and then a "Magic Packet" has to be received over the network to wake the computer up.
IMO, the following are possible culprits. However, this is only speculation on my part.
1. If somehow the laptop is receiving a "Magic Packet" over a wireless network, then the wireless adapter is not properly powering off while in Standby. This might possibly be due to a setting in "Deep Smart Power Down".
2. Another possiblilty is that some sort of radio frequency interference is triggering the wakeup circuitry on the laptop.
3. Then again, this just might be due to faulty power management keys in the Registry.
4. Or there might be an intermittant connection on the system board waking the laptop up.
