so I need a lapper by mid august, am going to get the x61 tablet (after much deliberating between the fujitsu...), I get the education discount and am using a visa (both of which give me the same price) Right now I can get a x61 multitouch, 60 gig 7200 hdd, 512 ram (upgrade later) for I believe 1610, is this the cheapest I will be able to get it for a while or would it be a good idea to wait for a sale or price drop etc in the near future...like I said I need it by mid/early august (and I know they are currently on back order) thanks in advance

No one knows what sales are coming up -- or if they do, they are not allowed to talk about them. But if you are planning to order direct from Lenovo, you should take into consideration that the CTO models' delivery times can be, uhh, substantial.
So if you have a hard deadline in six weeks' time, and you want a CTO model, if I were you I'd bite the bullet tomorrow and get your order in the queue.

Tom, how do you know you're getting a 7k200?

I'm buying it separately from the X61 as Lenovo only offers 100 GB 7200 rpm drives in the X61.
