X6xT HDDs on ebay??

#1 Post by jkbrand » Mon Jul 23, 2007 9:04 pm

The following link describes three 7k200 Hitachi drives for sale,
allegedly removed from X6n tablets.

Could this be legitimate, even tho' the prices aren't necessarily
a great deal??

As far as I know, none of the X60Ts shipped with a 200GB drive. You can't even configure them with one now. So unless the listing really meant they were from the X61T, I'd be suspicious.

I was suspicious, so I wrote the seller and asked how he came upon multiple units, each with the 7k200, when it appears not to be orderable or configurable through IBM or Lenovo's site.

His response: Those IBM x60tablets are imported from Japan. I have a customer in my local store bringing those laptops and ask me to upgrade the 7k200 hard drive to SSD Drives. He pays me with those hard drives. You might not be able to see the 7k200 hard drive as an option on lenovo.com is because you are purchase the laptop as a individual. For buiness, you can always build up the laptop you want.
