Acronis and X61s

#1 Post by techflavor » Fri Jul 27, 2007 10:04 pm

I just received a x61s today to replace my x60s.

I plan on using Acronis TrueImage Workstation 9.1 (w/ UR) to image my partitions on the x60s so I can restore them onto the x61s.

The harddrive in the x60s is 80gb 5400 while the harddrive in the x61s is 100gb 7200.

The problem is that Acronis does not recognize the harddrive in the x61s.

I support a big line of ThinkPads and I've never had a problem with Acronis recognizing one of the harddrives.

Anyone else with this problem?

I just received my X61s today. I also have the 100 gb 7200 hard drive. I'm using Acronis True Image Home 10 and it is recognizing the hard drive without any problems. Why don't you download the trial version of Home 10 to see if it sees your system.

It may also have something to do with setting your IDE to "compatibility mode" in the BIOS. I don't recall exactly what it's called but I'm sure you can find it. I recall reading many posts about getting certain Linux install CDs to recognize the disk properly and the solution was to set the drive to compatibility mode in the BIOS.

Good luck!

If you are booting from an Acronis CD, you will surely need to configure the SATA interface in the BIOS to compatibility mode.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up just hooking it into one of my external cases and did the restore that way.

However, it is nice to know the proper way!
