I need a slim battery that doesn't stick out. I see three options on Lenovos website but I'm not sure which one of these batteries doesn't stick out. In other words, I just want a small battery that fits in the case and doesn't have the extra sticking part below the monitor.

Get the 4 cell slim line.

One vote for ThinkPad X60s Series 4 cell Enhanced Capacity Battery. The 8 cell adds too much weight and bulk if one doesn't need all day battery life.

I have my X61s with the smallest 4 cell Slim Line Battery.

I can use it for 2 to max 2,5 hour depending on usage (Win XP, Vista uses more power in my opinion).

I need to work longer on battery power, so I decided to buy 8 cell High Capacity Battery and here is my question: is part number 40Y7003 proper battery for my X61s (Lenovo site doesn’t include X61s in accessories section, there is only X61 and that’s because I’m not sure)?

Dangit...I just refused shipment on the enhanced capacity 4-cell that Lenovo sent me b/c I was supposed to receive the slimline. Maybe I should have kept the enhanced capacity one!

I agree with your 3rd point. I do not agree with your second point but that's just personal choice.

But your first point is certainly not correct.

Would you like to share your opinions on why the first point sounds incorrect? Compared with 8 cell, the extra thickness and weight added by 4 cell enhanced is fairly small.

Per my understanding, the first point by EOMtp clearly were made wrt the 4cell Slimline battery. And

fairly small

doesn't equal

virtually no

.

Note: Batteries are shown at the same scale. The Slim is longer than the Enhanced (at the wide end, beyond the tab); a plastic screw-on attachment is used to "elongate" the Enhanced battery before mounting it on an X60s/X61s machine.
