%userprofile% on desktop

I just received my X61s today, Yeah! (after waiting almost 2 months). This is my first Lenovo. I have a folder that's showing up on the desktop that I don't understand. Is it a necessary folder (%userprofile%) and is there a way to hid it or move it so that I don't see it on the desktop. Thanks.

I'm not sure what that is. Does it have anything in it?

You might try Right clicking on the desktop, select personalize, then select change desktop icons on the Left. See if it's one of those.

its becuase you have "hide protected file systems" unchecked in you folder options. it's just a shortcut to the user profile folder
