X60T problems

1. When I power on my recently acquired X60T, a cmd window pops up briefly complaining that "leadertech.ini cannot be found", and nobody deleted it.

2. When I access the Lenovo web page and go to Support and Downloads, the Detect My System option does not detect anything.

I did register my machine via the Internet, and have downloaded and installed all Windows Vista Business and Lenovo updates.

Are the above two problems related? How can I solve them?

I believe that's in a LenovoWelcome.cmd or something file, and you can just remove whatever's starting it, I don't think it does anything once your system is set up.

The detect my system option could have failed because your interenet explorer is blocking popup. You need to install an lenovo activeX when you click on that 'detect my system' button.

If you had install that activex, then the other problem is your BIOS machine ID is corrupted. You can check out the software drivers area and download the capture bios setting utility. NOTE: Flashing your bios to new versions especially for VISTA may be dangerous, follow the correct instruction.

(I had a problem once with my T40 bios and had to go down to lenovo for them to flash it back correctly)

As for your 'leadertech.ini' thing, sometime it is an incorrect path. Just download CCCleaner and do a scan and cleanup of all the broken items and it should work. If that also didn't work, create a new user and log in as that new user and sometime XP will find the right ini itself. After completion, delete the dummy new user, go back to your main user and everything will be okay.
