Kensington Universal AC/DC power adapter (120W)

#1 Post by Altadena_Mark » Fri Aug 03, 2007 12:33 pm

I have the Kensington adapter and need to buy a connection tip for use with my new X61s. On the Kensington site, it does not list a tip for the X61s. It does list a tip for the X60 and X60s. Would this be the same, i.e. does the X60 or X60s have the same power connection as the X61s? Thanks.

The power tip is the same for X60 and X61.

Mark,

I am not sure which Kensington adapter you are using, the newer one with the USB or the older one with the Smart Tips; however if you are using the older one with the Smart Tips and need tip N29, I was unable to locate it for purchase anywhere online or retail.

I called Kensinton's technical support number asking where I could purchase one and they offered to send it out to me for free. Their contact info is:

Phone - within the U.S.
800-535-4242 phone
Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm Pacific Standard Time

Just be warned that they will want the serial number off of your adapter, so have it handy.

Thanks toddcooper171. I went to their website and they had the tip (N29) for sale for $9.95, so I ordered it. I just wasn't sure if this was the correct tip. If I don't get it soon, I'll give them a call as you suggested.

Well I received the tip, but when I tried it, N29, the system shut down. I could not power up or anything. I had to remove the battery and put it back in for it to power up with the Lenovo adapter. So much for compatibility. FYI.

Didn't work with T60p

I went through four of these adapters at Circuit City with my T60p and none of them worked for me. I like these adapters due to their nice form factor. But I think they definitely have compatibility problems with the T60p's. All of these adapters came with the N29 smart tips. Tech support was no help either.
