Anybody uses Matrox DualHead2Go with their X61 ?

#1 Post by ComputerMinder » Sun Aug 05, 2007 8:18 pm

I have discussed it before but did not get a conclusive answer to my question. So I decided to check if anyone here uses their X series with Matroxi DualHead2Go which allows to connect two monitors to the X61 VGA out.

If anyone uses it, please specify the resolutions of the monitors you are using.

I want to use the X61s with 2 monitors that each has 1680x1050 resolution. Guys here told me it's not possible since the X61s as a max rez of 2048x1536 (at least as indicated on Lenovo site).

But I emailed Matrox and they told me that because the X61s contains Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 it means I can connect two monitors of 1680x1050 without any problem. Which makes me wonder how is that possible. My purchase decision if to go for the X61s or not is based on the response I get here.

Also, can some with X6x running with Intel X3100 run this utility here and tell me all the information this utility outputs as in regard to the displays configurations possible with DualHead2Go Digital Edition and TripleHead2Go Digital Edition ? This program really doesn't install anything.

Thanks guys.

I just ran the utility and here are the results:

Dual-Head2Go Analog Max Single Monitor - 2560x1024
Dual-Head2Go Analog Max Dual Monitor - 2x 1280x1024
Triple-Head2Go Analog Max Single Monitor - 3840x1024
Triple-Head2Go Analog Max Dual Monitor - 3x 1280x1024
Dual-Head2Go Digital Max Single Monitor - 3840x1200
Dual-Head2Go Digital Max Dual Monitor - 2x 1900x1200
Triple-Head2Go Digital Max Single Monitor - 3840x1024
Triple-Head2Go Digital Max Dual Monitor - 3x 1280x1024

It appears that the Dual-Head2Go Digital will do what you wanted to do.

Good luck,
michael

Thanks man! I really appreciate it.
Can you confirm what X do you have? And what graphics card? IS it the X3100. Also one more thing, when you select the TripleHead2Go Digital, you stated 3x 1280x1024. Can you also tell if using 2 monitors what would the rez per each monitor?

I suggest you to take these informations with precaution.
Because this tool indicates that x60s can perform 2 * 1024*768 with dualhead analog. And I had the occasion to try and I didn't manage to do that.

Maybe it was possible but in this case, the software is very not intuitive.

And I've tried the dualhead on my desktop computer wich support 2 * 1280*1024, it was working but really not good. The auto-adjust tool of the screens were not working well with, so the display was badly centered.

Thanks for the info. That's not very encouraging, especially that I am going to base the purchase of the X61s solely based on the usage of dual screens using the DualHead2Go Digital.

Maybe the digital one works better but find a way to try before buying all of that!
